The Keldi

For the knowledgeable yachtsman, the words Burger Boat Company speak volumes. In 1994 and 1995 a classic Burger named KelDi underwent a precedent setting, no- expense spared refit for new owners. She was redrawn in every dimension, re-powered and re-engineered by her original naval architects Sparkman & Stephens. With interior design by Orsini Design Associated, KelDi has been reborn by the craftsmen of Derecktor Shipyard. Joe Smullen of I and Enterprises was retained as the acoustics consultant to engineer the quietest Burger Yacht ever done. Longer, Faster, and more spacious, KelDi is indeed a yacht of which Henry Burger would be proud.

The salon is a serene retreat seating 12 comfortably. Scalamandre tapestries, deep green chenille sofas and came-colored carpet compliment gleaming teak walls and furnishings. The salon includes full bar and a built-in media center.

KelDi offers her guests the elegance of a private dining room. Located on the main deck forward of the raised pilothouse, the dining room seats eight at a custom table created especially for the yacht by Orsini Designs. A specially sound proofed door separates the dining room from the galley.

KelDi’s raised pilothouse has all the traditional warmth of a classic motor yacht and yet it is brimming with the latest controls and communication and navigation gear. Guests are welcome to relax on the green leather settee and watch as captain and crew navigate their way to the next stop on a relaxed cruising itinerary at KelDi’s impressive 20-knot cruising speed. In addition to top-of-the-line electronic systems, KelDi’s passenger safety is assured by the inclusion of four watertight bulkheads.

The galley is the heart of any successful charter yacht and KelDi’s is no exception. Completely replaced during the refit, this efficiently planned galley can gracefully enable dinner for a part of as many as 18. Elaborately finished in teak and marble, it is accessible to guests in search of a quick snack or a cup of coffee. KelDi carries a professional chef among her four crew.

With transom door enclosed, KelDi’s aft deck becomes a U-shaped lounge seating 12 for lunch or dinner at cleverly designed foldout tables. The yacht’s serviceable new aft deck allows for alfresco dining in grand style.

The luxurious all new master stateroom extends the full beam of the yacht on the accommodations deck. The centerline queen-size bed with its elegant tapestry headboard is flanked by a teak dressing table with an antique Biedermeier vanity chair to port and a love seat to starboard. Ample storage includes a shoe closet and jewel safe. Cabinets hide a large-screen TV and stereo equipment. The his and hers baths are lavished in marble.

Two guest staterooms – queen to port and twin to starboard – are located in the widest, most stable part of the yacht. Silk and linen wall covers visually expand the spaces, while beautiful gloss-varnished teak furniture continues the feeling of yachting traditions. Each of these staterooms has a bathroom with shower; each room has separate controls for air conditioning.
